Bankslave Auctions Eliud Kipchoge’s Mural as an NFT.
Bankslave is auctioning Eliud Kipchoge’s digital mural as an NFT on Opensea.
The renowned Kenyan graffiti artist, Bankslave, who is well known for using his art as a voice for social change and has been referred to as “the founding father of Kenyan graffiti artist” by CNN has put into auction his mural of Eliud Kipchoge.
Bankslave also enjoys making portraits of prominent individuals that have inspired many with their lifetime achievements. In the past, he has done murals of Barack Obama, Lupita Nyong’o, Mohamed Ali, Nipsey Hussle, Wangari Maathai, among others.
In collaboration with his fellow graffiti artist BantuMoja, Bankslave did the Kipchoge mural in 2019 along Nairobi’s Kenyatta Avenue to commemorate the legacy of the marathon runner as well as celebrate his most recent record of running a 42-kilometer marathon in 1:59:40.
The blockchain, specifically NFT, has helped revolutionize the digital art industry by providing a strong tamper-resistant proof of ownership.
It’s important for established artists with rich portfolios — such as Bankslave — to join the revolution and make use of the new technology to earn from their creations.
